11.12.2023 Die am 5. Januar 1924 in Budapest geborene ungarisch-französische Medienkünstlerin Vera Molnár (Bild) ist am 7. Dezember 2023 kurz vor ihrem hundertsten Geburtstag in Paris gestorben. Als Künstlerin aus dem Feld der konstruktiv-konkreten Kunst gilt sie als bedeutende Pionierin der Computerkunst. (*) Sie erhielt vor allem in Frankreich und Ungarn zahlreiche hochrangige Orden und Auszeichnungen. Im kommenden Februar wird im Centre Pompidou in Paris eine Retrospektive eröffnet, die die Künstlerin noch mitgestaltet hat.

Vera Molnár, née Vera Gács le 5 janvier 1924 à Budapest, est la grande artiste française d'origine hongroise qui a poussé l’abstraction jusqu’à la poésie, poursuivant à sa manière expérimentale Homage to the Square de Josef Albers, figure du Bauhaus. En devenant française, Vera Molnár est devenue Véra Molnar, les accents ont changé de place et de syllabes ! On a appris, par sa galerie, que cette figure de l’histoire de l’art célébrée des artistes est morte ce matin du jeudi 7 décembre à Paris, juste avant d’atteindre ses 100 ans.

Née en Hongrie, la première artiste à s’emparer de l’informatique dès les années 1960 aura eu une carrière prolifique, malgré sa reconnaissance tardive, et fera l’objet d’une rétrospective au Centre Pompidou en 2024.
Les œuvres de l’artiste, grande figure de l’abstraction géométrique, étaient pleines de carré, cercles, rectangles, triangles depuis qu’elle avait découvert l’ordinateur en 1968
