06.04.2018 Der am 29. Oktober 1935 in Ujiyamada, Mie, Japan geborene japanische Filmregisseur, Drehbuchautor und Produzent Isao Takahata (Bild) ist am 5. April 2018 in Tokyo gestorben. Er war Mitgründer des legendären Studio Ghibli, war weltberühmt geworden durch seine Anime-Filme und in der Schweiz einem breiten Publikum vor allem bekannt durch seine Trichfilm-Serie "Alps no Shojo Heidi (Heidi, Girl of the Alps)".

With Miyazaki, he co-founded in 1985 the Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli, which went on to produce several blockbusters. The pair were often described by media as friends and rivals at the same time. Over a long and distinguished career, Takahata produced around 20 films, including Only Yesterday (1991) and Pom Poko (1994).

Takahata zog in seinen Werken stets den von Hand gezeichneten Zeichentrick der computergenerierten Animation vor. Als Einflüsse nannte er immer wieder japanische Holzschnitte der Edo-Ära und speziell deren Meister Hokusai. "Es geht um die Essenz, die hinter einer Zeichnung steckt", sagte Takata zur Ästhetik von Studio Ghibli.
