Literary world mourns versatile author of historical thrillers, children's books and non-fiction
Tributes poured in on social media for the award-winning author who penned a series of historical thrillers set in Germany during the second world war and cold war.

A tribute to Philip Kerr
The author will be much missed in the genre and beyond. His ability to weave together real historical events with criminal intrigue - including some of the greatest and some of the most evil characters of mid-century world history - is virtually unmatched. He was also a writer who conveyed great humanity, and the big moral question of ‘What would I have done?' is writ large across the Bernie Gunther series. Rest in peace.

Im deutschsprachigen Raum wurde Philip Kerr mit der Krimireihe um den Detektiven Bernie Gunther bekannt. Insgesamt erschienen 13 Romane dieser Reihe, die im Berlin der 1930er-Jahre spielen.
Ausserdem veröffentlichte Kerr drei Romane, in denen die Figur Scott Manson im englischen Profi-Fussball ermittelt. Zudem schrieb er zahlreiche Kinder- und Jugendbücher.

Der britische Krimi- und Kinderbuchautor Philip Kerr ist mit 62 Jahren gestorben. In Deutschland wurde er vor allem mit den Abenteuern seines Detektivs Bernhard Gunther bekannt.
