25.01.2023 Der am 2. November 1929 in Oklahoma City geborene US-amerikanische Psychologe Lloyd Morrisett (Bild) ist am 22. Januar 2023 in San Diego gestorben. Er gründete 1968 mit der Fernsehproduzentin Ganz Cooney die Non-Profit-Organisation Children's Television Workshop, die später in Sesame Workshop umbenannt wurde. 1969 schuf das Duo die "Sesame Street", das US-Original der "Sesamstrasse". Die Serie gilt als bekannteste Kindersendung der Welt.

Sesame Workshop mourns the passing of our esteemed and beloved co-founder Lloyd N. Morrisett, PhD, who died at the age of 93.

"Without Lloyd Morrisett, there would be no Sesame Street," co-founder Joan Ganz Cooney wrote in Sesame Workshop's announcement. "It was he who first came up with the notion of using television to teach preschoolers basic skills, such as letters and numbers. He was a trusted partner and loyal friend to me for over fifty years, and he will be sorely missed."
Morrisett co-founded the Sesame Workshop, originally the Children's Television Workshop, with Ganz Cooney in 1968. He served as a board member until his death.

Prompted in part by the Civil Rights Movement and the war on poverty, the duo set out to create a TV series that would give disadvantaged children a chance to prepare for school. Thus, they created “Sesame Street” in 1969. After famously spawning the hit children’s series, the Children’s Television Workshop was later renamed as Sesame Workshop.

Der US-Psychologe und Mitschöpfer der "Sesamstrasse" Lloyd Morrisett ist tot. Der Ideengeber für die Kindersendung wurde 93 Jahre alt, wie die Organisation Sesame Workshop auf Twitter bekannt gab. "Lloyd hinterlässt ein unauslöschliches Vermächtnis für Generationen von Kindern auf der ganzen Welt", hiess es in der Mitteilung von Montag.
