Suicide wurde in den frühen 1970er-Jahren von Vega gemeinsam mit Martin Rev gegründet und galt mit dem 1977 veröffentlichten Debütalbum "Suicide" - einem Meilenstein der Pop-Geschichte - als Vorreiter für spätere Stile wie Industrial, Post-Punk bis Techno.

Alan Vega, co-founder of influential electronic duo Suicide, died yesterday in his sleep. He was 78. Hardcore musician Henry Rollins first posted the news on his website, with a family approved statement that said "Alan Vega was the quintessential artist on every imaginable level. His entire life was devoted to outputting what his vision commanded of him."
