11.02.2021 Der am 12. Juni 1941 in Chelsea (Massachusetts) geborene US-amerikanische Jazz-Keyboarder, Komponist und Bandleader Chick Corea (Bild) ist am 9. Februar 2021 in Tampa Bay (Florida) gestorben. Der 23fache Grammy-Gewinner war einer der Gründerväter des Jazz-Rock und galt als einer der wichtigsten und besten Jazz-Pianisten der letzten Jahrzehnte. Stilprägend war u.a. seine Arbeit mit den Bands Return to Forever, Elektric Band, Akoustic Band und 5 Peace Band sowie mit den Musikern Miles Davis, Miroslav Vitouš, Herbie Hancock, Gary Burton oder John McLaughlin. Zum Unverständnis vieler seiner KollegInnen und Fans war Corea Mitglied der Neuen Religiösen Bewegung Scientology.
