Die rabiate Intensität, mit der er seine cluster-ähnlichen Akkorde heraushämmerte, die aberwitzige Dichte klanglicher Strukturen, die schiere physische Energie - da mussten andere Kräfte mit im Spiel sein. Bei Taylors oft solistischen Auftritten roch es immer auch irgendwie nach Schwefel. Der Mann spielte Klavier immer mit Händen und Füßen, mit Kopf und Kragen, mit Körper und Seele. Und er riskierte dabei alles, auch seine Existenz.

In atonalen Wirbeln und Strudeln berserkerte er quer über die Tastatur und schraffierte mit seiner totalen Chromatik jeden nachvollziehbaren harmonischen Zusammenhang zu.
