13.07.2010 Das famose, weltgewandte und -geschätzte Vienna Art Orchestra rund um den Schweizer Mathias Rüegg ist am Ende. O-Ton Rüegg:

Das Konzert am 9.Juli beim Musikforum in Viktring/A  
war das letzte Konzert des Vienna Art Orchestras.

Chronische Unterfinanzierung, ein massiver Nachfragerückgang
aus den Kernländern Österreich, Schweiz
und Deutschland sowie  wirtschaftsbedingtes
Einbrechen von Ländern wie Italien, Spanien oder Frankreich
haben mich zu dieser Entscheidung veranlasst. Jede Form
von Schuldzuweisung ist fehl am Platz!
Es waren 33 intensive Jahre auf einem hohen Niveau. Ich bedanke
mich hiermit bei all denen, die zur Existenz des VAO bei-
getragen haben, zuerst beim Publikum, aber natürlich
auch bei den öffentlichen und privaten Förderern, 
den vielen internationalen Musikjournalisten und last but not least,
bei all den talentierten Musikern, die oft über sich hinausgewachsen sind
bei ihrer Arbeit mit dem VAO.
Ich persönlich bedauere es zutiefst, da das jetzige Orchester
und mein Schaffen am Höhepunkt angelangt sind.
Doch ich nehme die Dinge zur Kenntnis wie sie sind
und verbleibe mit dem Zitat von Janis Joplin:
Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.

The concert on 9 July at the Musikforum in Viktring, Austria,
was the last concert of the Vienna Art Orchestra.
Chronic under-financing, a major decrease in demand from the core countries,
Austria and Germany, and the financial crisis in countries such as Italy,
Spain and France have led me to make this decision. Looking where to
place the blame is out of place. It's been 33 years at the highest level.
I wish to give my thanks to all those who have contributed to the existence
of the VAO; first of all to the public but of course also to the official and
private sponsors, to the many music journalists and last but not least to
all the talented musicians who often outdid themselves in their work
with the VAO. I deeply regret that the current orchestra and my
creation must stop when we are at our peak. However, I accept the
realities, such as they are, and end with this quote from Janis Joplin:
Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.
