01.05.2022 Die am 11. Januar 1946 in Ashland (Kentucky) geborene US-amerikanische Sängerin und Schauspielerin Naomi Judd (Bild) ist am 30. April 2022 in Nashville (Tennessee) gestorben. Sie war die Mutter der Sängerin Wynonna Judd (57) und der Schauspielerin Ashley Judd (54). Zusammen mit Wynonna gründete sie in den 1980er-Jahren das Country-Duo The Judds, das mit einer Mischung aus Bluegrass- und Popmusik in den USA bekannt wurde und Hits wie "Mama He's Crazy", "Why Not Me", "Love Can Build a Bridge" und "Girls' Night out" schuf. Insgesamt landeten die beiden 14 Nummer-eins-Hits in den USA und gewannen fünf Grammys sowie zahlreiche Academy of Country Music Awards. Am Tag nach Naomis Tod wurden The Judd wie bereits angekündigt in die Country Music Hall of Fame aufgenommen.

Upon The Judds being named Hall of Fame inductees, Naomi told The Tennessean, "So much of my life, I felt anonymous. I felt neglected. … So to all of a sudden have somebody saying, 'Hey, wait a minute. You did something right. You actually pulled it off, and somebody else is validating you.' That means that it must be real."
