30.11.2022 Die am 12. Juli 1943 in Greenodd bei Bouth (Lancashire, England) als Christine Anne Perfect geborene britische Musikerin, Sängerin und Songwriterin Christine McVie (Bild) ist am 30. November 2022 gestorben. Ihre ersten Erfolge als Sängerin feierte Christine McVie mit der Gruppe Chicken Shack in den 1960er-Jahren. Sie heiratete den Bassisten John McVie, der bei Fleetwood Mac spielte, und trat 1970 selbst der Gruppe bei. Im selben Jahr veröffentlichte sie unter ihrem Geburtsnamen ein erstes Soloalbum. Bereits 1968 hatte sie auf dem Fleetwood-Mac-Album "Mr. Wonderful" Keyboard gespielt, obwohl sie noch Mitglied von Chicken Shack war. Christine McVie schrieb den ersten Hit, den Fleetwood Mac in den USA hatten. "Over My Head" erschien 1975 und erreichte den 20. Platz der Singlecharts. 1977 wurde ihre Ehe mit John McVie geschieden. Während der Trennung schrieb sie den Hit "Don’t Stop“. (*) Acht von Christine McVie (mit)geschriebene Songs erschienen 1988 auf dem "Greatest Hits"-Album von Fleetwood Mac, darunter "Don't Stop", "Everywhere" und "Little Lies".

Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter, dies aged 79

Christine McVie, who played with Fleetwood Mac and wrote some of their most famous songs, has died aged 79, her family has said.

The British singer-songwriter was behind hits including Little Lies, Everywhere, Don't Stop, Say You Love Me and Songbird.

Family say the musician, who was in one of the best-known rock bands of the 1970s and 80s, died after a short illness

The British American rock band (FleetwoodMac), founded in London in 1967, sold more than 100m records worldwide, making them one of the most successful groups ever. Their best-known songs include Dreams, Go Your Own Way and Everywhere.

The band paid tribute to the singer-songwriter McVie in a statement on Wednesday night following news of her death. "There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie. She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure."

The statement on Twitter continued: "She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life."
