Roy Gaines Death – Obituary

Sad to hear of the passing of the brilliant jazz & blues guitar player Roy Gaines. Played in Chuck Willis’ & Ray Charles band’s in the 50s & 60s, made scorching blues 45s in the 1950s, played on countless sessions (Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Everly’s) ran his own blues label.

His resume is that of legend

He’s played with all the greats, Bobby Bland, Ray Charles, Aretha, T-Bone Walker, Junior Parker, Big Mama Thornton and so many more, along with his own fantastic recordings. His brother Grady played with Little Richard and his daughter Carolyn has her own records out. He was a giant. He’ll be sorely missed.
