13.05.2024 Der am 30. Juli 1945 in Tampa (Florida) geborene US-amerikanische Saxofonist David Sanborn (Bild) ist am 12. Mai 2024 in Tarrytown (New York) gestorben. Er galt als der einflussreichste Saxofonist in den Bereichen Pop, Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Smooth Jazz, R&B und Blues der USA in den letzen 20 Jahren. Der vielfach preisgekrönte David Sanborn spielte mit so unterschiedlichen Bands und KünstlerInnen wie z.B. Albert King, Al Jarreau, George Benson, den Brecker Brothers, B.B. King, der Butterfield Blues Band, Stevie Wonder, Gil Evans, den Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, Sting, Paul Simon, David Bowie, Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Carly Simon, Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, Miles Davis, James Taylor, Giorgio Moroder, Cat Stevens, Bruce Springsteen oder Roger Waters. Mehrere seiner Alben gewannen Grammy-Awards.
