22.08.2021 The Everly Brothers waren ein US-amerikanisches Gitarren- und Gesangsduo, das ab Mitte der 1950er-Jahre eines der erfolgreichsten Musikduos der Popgeschichte und die erfolgreichste Gesangsgruppe der Ära vor den Beatles wurde.* Nachdem sein Bruder Phil Everly 2014 gestorben war, wird nun auch der Tod des am 1. Februar 1937 in Brownie (Kentucky) geborenen Isaac Donald Don Everly am 21. August 2021 gemeldet. Bis 1973 traten die Brüder gemeinsam auf; nach einer rund zehnjährigen Trennungszeit arbeiteten sie ab 1983 wieder gemeinsam im Studio und auf der Bühne. Das Duo erreichte mit sieben Titeln die Spitzen der US-amerikanischen und/oder britischen Single-Hitparaden: "Wake Up Little Susie", "All I Have to Do Is Dream", "Claudette", "Cathy’s Clown", "Walk Right Back", "Ebony Eyes" und "Temptation". Sie zählten zu den zehn Gründungsmitgliedern der Rock and Roll Hall of Fame und wurden vom Magazin "Rolling Stone" 2004 auf Platz 33 der Liste der hundert grössten Musikacts aller Zeiten geführt.*

Don Everly, Half of Country Rock Duo the Everly Brothers, Dies at 84

The Los Angeles Times confirmed Everly’s death via a family spokesperson on Saturday night (Aug. 21), reporting that he died at home in Nashville. A cause of death was not cited.

“Don lived by what he felt in his heart,” read a statement given to the outlet. “Don expressed his appreciation for the ability to live his dreams … with his soulmate and wife, Adela, and sharing the music that made him an Everly Brother.”
