13.12.2021 Der am 17. Februar 1940 in Huentitán el Alto (Jalisco) geborene mexikanische Ranchera-Sänger, Schauspieler und Filmproduzent Vicente Fernández Gómez ist am 12. Dezember 2021 gestorben. Er gehörte zu den bekanntesten Musikern Lateinamerikas und war zuletzt der berühmteste Vertreter der mexikanischen Folklore-Musik Ranchera. Fernández verkaufte im Laufe seiner jahrzehntelangen Karriere rund 50 Millionen Alben und spielte in über 30 Filmen mit. Stilistisch wurde er häufig mit Pedro Infante oder Jorge Negrete verglichen. Dreimal wurde er mit einem Grammy Award für regionale mexikanische Musik ausgezeichnet. Fernández erhielt neun Latin Grammy Awards und 14 Lo Nuestro Awards.

Hoy, a sus 81 años, la voz icónica del mariachi mexicano —uno de los mejores del género con Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete y Javier Solís— ha fallecido. Para sus millones de seguidores en América Latina llegó el triste momento de llorar al rey.
