03.05.2022 Der am 10. Januar 1931 in der Bronx (New York City) geborene US-amerikanische Fotograf Ron Galella (Bild) ist am 30. April 2022 in Montville (New Jersey) gestorben. Der Sohn italienischer Einwanderer galt als Pionier unter den Paparazzi und Mitbegründer der Sensationspresse, die er selber zur Kunstform erhob. Er wurde von Fotografierten beschimpft, bespuckt, verklagt und verprügelt; gleichzeitig wurden seine Fotografien mit jenen grosser Meister der Zeit verglichen und von Museen wie dem New Yorker Museum of Modern Art gekauft. Berühmt wurden seine Aufnahmen u.a. von Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Marlon Brando, Robert Redford, Madonna, Muhammad Ali, Yves Saint Laurent, Ali MacGraw, Richard Burton und Sean Penn.
