09.07.2022 Der am 29. Juli 1942 in Brooklyn (New York City) geborene Genaro Anthony "Tony" Sirico Jr (Bild) ist am 8. Juli 2022 in Fort Lauderdale (Florida) gestorben. Vor seiner Karriere als Schauspieler war er Berufsverbrecher und stand der Mafia-Familie Colombo nahe. In einer Gefängnis-Theatergruppe entdeckte er sein Interesse an der Schauspielerei. International bekannnt wurde Sirico durch die Rolle des Mafiosos Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri in der erfolgreichen HBO-Fernsehserie "The Sopranos" (*). Er spielte aber auch (meist kleinere) Rollen in Filmen von James Toback, Martin Scorsese und Woody Allen. Insgesamt trat Sirico in über 70 Filmen und Fernsehproduktionen auf.

HBO described Sirico as “a tremendous, one-of-a-kind talent. On The Sopranos, his legendary performance as the unwavering Paulie Walnuts cemented him as an icon, beloved for his one-liners and steadfast devotion. He will be sorely missed by the HBO family,” a statement shared on HBO’s official Twitter account read.
